Hospital Stay

Well its been awhile, yet again, since my last post. This update will be regarding my recent health issues and overnight hospital stay.

But let me start at the night before (which was Saturday, November 5th). A group of us went out to celebrate Venessas birthday. She decided she wanted it to be Royal Wedding themed, so all the girls wore fascinators and the boys wore top hats! Here are a few pictures of our getups!

Lo, me, Maria, and Venessa before going out for the night

Kev and I

Well, at one drunken point of the night, I took a major spill (due to drunkeness, really no one else's fault but my own). My arm hurt terribly from it, but I was stubborn and instead of leaving the fun and getting it checked out, I continued to party the night away.

When I woke up the next morning, it still hurt and was also really swollen. I took some 800 ibuprofen and went on my way. Awhile later, I took another 800 ibuprofen. Around noon, my stomach was hurting and my arm was still in pain, swollen, and also starting to bruise. A lot of probing from Kevin and my family led me and Kevin to the Kaiser emergency room. I told them of both my arm issue and my stomach issue. They took some xrays as well as a not so pleasant test to find out if I was bleeding internally, and I was. They said the arm was not broken, but were very concerned that I had ulcers that were bleeding and I was admitted to the hospital and that they would be doing an endoscopy the following day to check my intestines/stomach.

That evening Kevin and my parents stayed with me (my parents left around 8 and Kevin stayed as long as visiting hours allowed-which was 9). I had a rough night of being constantly woken up to take vitals and blood as well as getting a roommate around midnight (an elderly lady, not sure why she was in the hospital). I was told in the morning that I should be getting the endoscopy around 9 am so I called Kevin and he rushed over. My mom came back to the hospital a little while later.

A hospital doctor came in to my room in the midst of this asking me about everything and decided to look back over the xrays. He found out I actually had a very small fracture on the radial head of my right arm (elbow area). But that due to how minor it was, it would not need to be casted.

Lots and lots of waiting occured and I didn't actually get taken to get the endoscopy until after 2 pm. Oh and this WHOLE time I was not allowed to eat or drink anything and was hooked up to IV fluids.

I don't remember much after waking up from the procedure other than my tongue and throat feeling numb. They wheeled me back to my room (with Kevin and my mom at my side) and I promptly fell asleep. They woke me up a little later to go over the findings and let me know I was going to be released that evening.

The results were as follows: several "linear" (as opposed to round) ulcers most likely caused by a lot of alcohol Saturday night mixed with lots of ibuprofen the following morning. The bleeding was not too excessive and would stop on its own (if it hadn't already).

I now have to take prilosec prior to two meals each day for at least a month. They recommend I don't use ibuprofen or any NSAIDS whatsoever in the future (and can therefore only take Tylenol). They also said I really should not drink at all, especially for the next few months. After that, I still should not drink in excess (ie: to the point of being "drunk") but it won't kill me to have a drink here and there.

I had a follow up visit the next day (Tuesday, November 7th) and the doctor reiterated the no NSAIDS or alcohol. She also told me that I didn't have to wear the sling I was given in the hospital 24/7 and that I could still work but to do some exercises to prevent my elbow healing incorrectly as well as Tylenol and ice, as needed.

About a week later, my stomach pain is gone, but my arm is still sore and pretty bruised. I am just grateful that it wasn't anything too serious.

And just in case you wanna be grossed out, here are a few pictures of my bruised arm (taken sometime last week):

The pictures do not do the bruise justice. It is MUCH nastier-looking in person. Oh and here's one of my other arm, looking like I am an IV drug user thanks to the IV and numerous blood draws:

So...yeah...that's what's been going on with me!

In more fun news, my baby sister turns 21 on Wednesday and we are throwing her a party at our favorite bar (FLB) this Friday night! Kinda sucks I won't be able to drink with her on her 21st, but obviously my health is more important. And a week from Wednesday, we (my parents, my sister, her boyfriend, Kevin, and I) will be in Disneyland!!! We are going to be down there Wednesday through Saturday. Wednesday we will be at California Adventure, Thursday and Friday we will be at Disneyland, and Saturday we will drive home. Thursday, as you may realize, is Thanksgiving Day, so that evening we will be having a special Thanksgiving dinner buffet at the resort! Definitely looking forward to this weekend and next week!

Alright, time to rest (this has been a VERY hectic Monday)!

Pooh's Blustery Day

Wow I haven't updated in awhile, huh? Mostly due to not feeling like I had anything interesting to say but also due to busy-ness and laziness...And I feel like we went from summer to winter...today has been very cold and VERY windy...and I think it is only going to get colder (and rainy) this week!

Saturday evening a group of us went out on the town all dressed up. We had a great time! Then last night a few friends came over for dinner, Apples to Apples, and passing out candy to the VERY FEW trick or treaters that we had in our neighborhood. Life lately has just been a lot of enjoying time with Kevin and our friends. Here are a few pictures from Saturday night:

Kevin aka Hulk Hogan, me aka a peacock, Venessa aka a Parisian Showgirl, and Dustin aka a teletubby

Just Nessa and I

My love and I :)

Venessa, Sarah (who didn't dress up but promised she would next year), and I

Anddd...that's all...I seriously feel like I have nothing to say...I apologize in advance if I don't update for awhile again...though my sister's 21st bday is this month, as well as our family (plus boyfriends) trip to Disneyland so I definitely will have some pictures to post later in the month.

Off to do laundry (and waste time on Pinterest)!

Rainy Monday off work!

Well hello there! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I have this rainy Monday off due to the fact that I'm working this Saturday. Have already managed to wash some dishes and do a few loads of laundry. As soon as the last load finishes drying, I'm off to spend the day with my mom. :)

Friday night after work, I went out with a few close friends. Here is what I wore:

Orange-ish button up shirt: Marshalls
Cream undershirt: Forever 21
Brown tank (under the cream one): Nordstrom BP
Jeans: Miss Me
Sandals: Loveculture (a store that's kinda like Forever21)
Belt: Loveculture

and an even closer up photo of the detail of the orange-ish shirt

Saturday, Kev and I watched some TV then headed out to lunch. After lunch we went to a few different model homes to get some decorating ideas (one of me favorite things to do!). Then we headed to IKEA and picked up a few things:

This shelf..it sits in the corner next to our TV...the bottom two shelves are driving me crazy as they do not yet have anything on them yet :/

and this mirror which I LOVE! It is not yet hanging up as I have not 100% decided which wall I want to put it on and I think we are gonna do some painting first before hanging it.

After the IKEA trip, we got a start on some dinner. I started cooking some noodles while Kev headed to the grocery store to grab a few items. Along with the food items, he brought me back this:

So sweet! And sunflowers are my favorite! <3

After dinner, a few of our guy friends came over and we headed to TGI Fridays for some appetizers and drinks. It was a fun night hanging with some of my favorite boys! Drank a little too much though, as Sunday morning I had quite a little headache. Fell asleep watching some football and then once I woke up the headache was gone! After the 49ers game was over, Kev and I went to dinner at a yummy Italian place and then to Home Goods to get some more stuff for the house. The things we got were Christmas season decorations so no pics of those until I put them out after Thanksgiving!

Anyhooo...the dryer buzzer just went off, so I am gonna go fold some laundry then head to my mom's house! Have a great Monday!

Fall outfit and pretty flowers

Just a quick picture post (haven't had a post with pictures in awhile!) to show you the first official fall outfit I wore this year...was worn this past Friday night to a friend's BBQ:

Hot pink sweater: Forever 21
Black under tank: Target
Jeans: Hudson (purchased on sale at Macy's about 2 years ago)
Boots: Uggs
Necklace: Forever 21

I apologize for the picture quality as it was taken on my phone...I have not yet mastered how to take good self portraits of my whole body to show an outfit...tips?

And the flowers Kevin picked out to use as a centerpiece for our dining table for our housewarming party this past Sunday:

<3

Now I am back to being bundled up under the blankets! My house is colllldddd! I don't wanna mess with the heating/AC settings just yet though as it is supposed to be nice and warm again this weekend. Ta ta!

Cozy fall weather

Well it has been cool and rainy today...I believe fall has really come and summer is gone. I have mixed emotions about this as I LOVE summer weather, yet I am excited for some of my new fall clothes I got over the weekend and of course, the holiday season that is just around the corner!

This weekend I did some shopping with my mom and sister and got a lot of great stuff at Forever 21. I cannot stress enough how much I love that store, as the clothes are both stylish and cheap! Yesterday, we had some family and close friends over for a housewarming party. We had a great time and got some great gifts for our new home. :)

Now I am just snuggled on the couch in a sweatshirt doing laundry and watching HGTV! It is quite relaxing, but would be so much better if Kevin was here snuggling with me instead of at work.

This coming weekend should be the first one in quite awhile where we literally have NO plans! I love having plans and being busy, but it is nice to have a little break from that every once in awhile.

Alright, I haven't checked out pinterest yet today, so the addict in me is urging me to stop blogging and start pinning!

Kitchen Nightmare!

Story of my life...its been awhile since my last update...gimme a break, I'm a busy girl!

So after we moved into our house and finally got a refrigerator, we realized that the way the kitchen was designed made it so that when a fridge is in the fridge space, the dishwasher door cannot open all the way...talk about a pain in the ass, right? At our 30-day walk through, we informed our KB guy of this and he worked up different ideas of how to fix it. Once one was decided on, we scheduled for the kitchen "remodel" to begin...WELL it began on Wednesday and was supposed to be done by Friday. They were right on schedule until Friday when they had issues with the guy who was supposed to replace the flooring in that area...and those problems are still here, which means our kitchen is not complete. Right now, our fridge is plugged in (but not connected to a water line) in the middle of the kitchen. Our dining table and chairs are in the front entrance of the house. Basically its just a mess. They told Kev today they were thinking they wouldn't be able to complete the project for another two weeks due to not being able to get ahold of the right flooring.

My mom is throwing us a small, family and family friends, housewarming party this Sunday...sooo needless to say I am a tad frustrated. I talked to the dude about it today and he said he would do his best to have it completely done by Friday. If that is not possible, he will at least have someone come in and put the fridge back where it belongs/hook it up to the water line. Not my favorite option, but definitely better than what we've got going on now. UGHHHHH!!! Just ready for everything to be fixed and back to normal!

Work and my social life has been busy as ever which is stressful and fun at the same time. Definitely ready for a break though. I think that break should be coming after this weekend.

Anyhooodle...that's the craziness that has been my life lately...off to do some laundry and other things around the house!

Weekend Recap (4 days later)!

Okay, first, before the recap...I have begun "pinning" on www.pinterest.com and let me say...I am officially addicted! I have a few different "boards" I've started, but the one with the most so far is "House Ideas." I lovelovelove looking at beautiful ideas for decorating my home! Especially because I feel its so plain right now...now if only I had unlimited funds to put my ideas into action!

Moving on...

Friday night after work, Kevin and I had a nice dinner-just the two of us-at Outback. Then we headed to Old Sac to check out Evangeline's Costume Mansion (and picked up Lauren on the way)...Lo and I had a great time looking at all the fun Halloween stuff and getting ideas for what we want to be for Halloween...no decision yet though. After that, we met up with some friends at one of my favorite dive bars downtown, Golden Bear. Kev and I left around midnight because I had to be up early the next morning to head to Tahoe with Shannon and Chrissy.

The three of us had a blast eating, drinking, shopping, and gambling (just a little) in Tahoe. It was definitely a great way to say goodbye to Shannon as she left today for Seattle for school. I am really gonna miss her :( Here's some pictures from the day:

View from the deck of the Beacon where we had lunch and delicious rum runners

Shannon, me, and Chrissy at lunch (notice our rum runner cups are empty!)

We stopped at Sammy Hagar's bar, Cabo Wabo and he was there! (He had a concert in Tahoe later that evening)

After I got home from Tahoe, I took a shower and passed out very early as I had to be up early again Sunday for the Giants vs. Dodgers game. And the Giants won!!! :)

Venessa, me, and Chrissy tailgating before the game

Kevin and I during the tailgate <3

There was a BEAUTIFUL 9/11 remembrance ceremony prior to the game

God bless America!

And we ended the day at Chevy's on the bay :)

So that was that! My recap came just in time for the weekend to begin again! This weekend, though, for the first time in a LONG time, Kev and I don't have a million things we have to do...so we will be spending the weekend cleaning, getting the garage completely cleaned out, grocery shopping, etc etc etc...oh and we have a guy coming out Saturday afternoon to give us an estimate on putting some concrete down in the backyard. I really hope its something we can afford as rainy season is about to start and I do NOT want to deal with a giant mud pit back there! Should be a nice, productive weekend!

Time to finish some laundry, shower, and get to bed!
